Umair Haque interviewed Evan Williams, the Head of Twitter this afternoon at South by Southwest. Here’s my notes as well as some additional words taken from the tweet stream to add value to this reading for you!

Evan started out with a preview of Twitter’s new offering called @Anywhere – see the commentary of this on Twitter’s blog site here:

Through @Anywhere you can be on a website and click on a company or individuals name and have twitter info overlay on the website. Through this you can see if you’re following them, their details and more.

Sites can decide how they wish to use it. So far, those sites signed on for the initial launch are: Amazon, AdAge, Bing, Citysearch, Digg, eBay, The Huffington Post, Meebo,, The New York Times,, Yahoo!, and YouTube.

– An AT platform not an Ad platform

Openness isn’t transparency, you can see through window, but can walk through a door – openness lets people come in and use what Twitter can be – Twitter learns from how users use.

9 assumptions talked about with newcomers to Twitter – we assume more smart people outside the company than in the company.

50 million tweets per day. You may see 100 a day and are they helpful?

Tapping into the reach and technology of these partners are how to do this.
